Why this program exists
Most students learn next-generation sequencing only in theory. This program flips that: you work hands-on with Nanopore sequencing technology, generate and analyse real data, and finish with a research project you can defend.
It is designed as a destination program for South India — a rare chance to get genuine hands-on NGS experience, scientist-guided, without owning an instrument.
The four-step journey
Every student moves through a structured, mentor-guided path:
- Hands-on Nanopore / NGS workflow — sample and library-prep concepts, sequencing-run demonstration, real-time data generation
- A real research project — wet-lab or bioinformatics, on a topic matched to your goals
- Data analysis and scientific writing — FASTQ QC, genome and variant-analysis basics, and a structured write-up
- A verifiable certificate and a stronger research CV, with publication-possibility review where novelty permits
