Soil health via DNA
Measure microbial community changes around a defined agronomic question.
16S bacterial and ITS fungal profiling can describe rhizosphere communities before and after bio-input application. It adds a molecular perspective to soil research; it does not replace soil chemistry, viable counts, agronomic endpoints or a controlled efficacy trial.
Baseline and post-application comparisons
Define crop, treatment, dose, site, sampling depth and time points before collection. Include appropriate untreated controls and biological replicates so seasonal or field differences are not mistaken for treatment effects.
Bacterial and fungal communities
Use 16S and/or ITS according to the research question, with matrix-aware extraction and controls. Report taxonomic composition, diversity and uncertainty; species-level assignment depends on assay and database support.
Interpretation linked to field metadata
Review the sequence results alongside soil properties, management history and measured crop outcomes. A relative abundance change alone does not prove improved fertility, colonisation or crop performance.
Biofertilizer, biopesticide and consortia research
Authenticate the strain and investigate what is in the material.
For manufacturers, formulation teams and researchers, DNA identity evidence can support an R&D documentation package intended for FCO or CIBRC review. Required tests, recognised facilities and regulatory acceptance must be checked separately for the product category.
16S and ITS barcoding
Review bacterial or fungal identity of suitable isolates with documented references and limitations. Barcoding may identify a species or species group, but it does not reliably distinguish every commercial strain.
Nanopore whole-genome verification
For isolate-level strain comparison, scope Oxford Nanopore WGS, assembly and reference-based characterisation. Genomic matching can strengthen identity evidence while purity, viability and product claims need additional methods.
Purity and contamination investigation
Agree an investigation that combines appropriate culture, isolate identification or community sequencing. Detection limits and sample selection are explicit; no sequence assay guarantees that all contaminants are absent.
Multi-strain consortia
Separate questions of membership, strain identity and viable abundance. A mixed-community profile is not proof of every named strain or its colony count, so isolate recovery or targeted assays may be needed.
Batch comparison and R&D records
Compare defined development or manufacturing batches with a consistent method and traceable sample metadata. Provide methods, sequence outputs and a research interpretation for the client’s technical file.
FCO/CIBRC documentation boundaries
Research evidence can inform a dossier but is not a statutory certificate, registration or approval. Confirm applicable Fertiliser (Control) Order or CIBRC requirements and recognised testing responsibilities before commissioning regulatory work.
Plant pathogen molecular detection
Targeted PCR and qPCR for a specified crop disease question.
Discuss a named viral, bacterial or fungal target and the intended research use. Assay availability, target specificity, controls, extraction and sample matrix must be confirmed before a panel is offered.
Seeds and planting material
Scope sampling and extraction for a defined target in seeds or propagation material. A negative aliquot does not establish that an entire seed lot is pathogen-free, and research testing is not a phytosanitary certificate.
Leaves and stems
Review symptoms, crop stage, collection location and the proposed assay. RNA-virus targets require an appropriate RNA extraction and reverse-transcription step; generic DNA PCR does not detect every plant virus.
Roots and rhizosphere soil
Account for uneven pathogen distribution and extraction inhibitors. Use appropriate controls to distinguish an undetected target from an inhibited or unsuitable sample.
Quantitative endpoints where validated
qPCR quantification requires a suitable calibration and documented performance for the target/matrix. A Ct value alone is not a validated absolute load or a recommendation for pesticide treatment.
Contract agri-biotech R&D
Link molecular work to a study that can answer the client’s question.

Agree the experimental comparisons, sampling plan, molecular endpoints and required companion measurements. Method availability and materials are verified before accepting an efficacy or validation work package.
- 03
Documented execution and analysis
Record sample identity, deviations, controls, analysis settings and limitations. Discuss any failed QC or required repeat work before extra costs or timeline changes are incurred.
- 04
Research reports and next decisions
Deliver the agreed raw data, tables, figures and methods for internal R&D or investigator-led reporting. Negative and inconclusive results are reported honestly; performance, registration and publication are not guaranteed.
Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and pan-India
A Hyderabad execution base with remote scientific planning.
Agri-input and biotechnology companies
Discuss research programmes from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere in India, with approved sample transport to Nacharam and scheduled scientific reviews. Site or field execution is a separate scope requiring confirmed facilities.
MSc and PhD Agriculture research
Connect permitted laboratory or bioinformatics support to the scholar’s approved protocol, supervisor requirements and analysis plan. The scholar performs the academic work and owns the interpretation; no ghostwriting or fabricated results.
Quotations and confidentiality
Start with a non-confidential outline. An NDA, project-data ownership terms, sample acceptance, analysis deliverables and a realistic timeline are agreed before proprietary product details or material are transferred.
Turnaround is assay-specific: microbiome sequencing and analysis commonly need 2–4 weeks after satisfactory QC, while targeted PCR work is scheduled only after assay availability and samples are confirmed. Custom validation and multi-stage R&D need their own milestone plan.
Research-grade scope and clear reporting boundaries.
Manna Biotech provides research-grade agricultural molecular testing and exploratory R&D support. These services are not represented as NABL-accredited testing, GLP studies, FCO/CIBRC certification, seed certification or phytosanitary clearance. Statutory requirements must be performed and reported by a separately verified facility with the appropriate recognised scope.
Sample suitability, the executing facility, method availability, biosafety, acceptance criteria and deliverables are confirmed in writing before work begins. We do not guarantee a particular result, publication, regulatory approval or commercial outcome.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can soil 16S/ITS testing prove that our biofertilizer improves soil health?
+
It can describe bacterial or fungal community changes within a properly designed study, but a microbiome change alone does not prove agronomic benefit. Include baseline and post-application sampling, untreated controls, biological replicates and relevant soil or crop measurements. Relative abundance is not a direct viable count, nutrient measurement or efficacy result.
How do you authenticate biofertilizer, biocontrol or consortium strains?
+
Suitable pure bacterial or fungal isolates can be reviewed by 16S/ITS barcoding, with WGS considered when higher-resolution strain comparison is needed. Consortia may require culture isolation, targeted assays and community profiling to answer different questions. DNA identity does not independently establish viability, quantity, purity or product efficacy; those endpoints must be scoped separately.
Are the reports accepted as FCO or CIBRC certification?
+
No automatic acceptance or certification is claimed. Research methods and identity data may contribute to the client’s R&D documentation, but the product category determines the statutory tests, recognised institutions and report requirements. Manna Biotech does not describe these in-house research services as NABL-accredited or GLP-certified and does not guarantee registration or approval.
Can you detect viral, bacterial and fungal plant pathogens by PCR or qPCR?
+
A target-specific research assay can be considered after reviewing crop, material, target, extraction and assay availability. RNA viruses need an appropriate reverse-transcription workflow. Quantitative claims require suitable calibration and controls for the matrix. A negative result applies to the tested sample and method limits; it is not a pathogen-free or phytosanitary certificate.
Can clients outside Hyderabad send soil, leaves, roots or cultures?
+
Enquiries are welcome from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and across India, but ask for written acceptance and matrix-specific collection, packaging and transport instructions before dispatch. Cultures, regulated plant material and chemically hazardous samples require additional eligibility and receiving checks. The executing laboratory and any external dependency are identified in the scope.
Do you support MSc/PhD Agriculture projects and confidential company R&D?
+
Yes, subject to method and facility feasibility. Academic support must fit institutional approval and supervisor requirements, with the scholar retaining responsibility for academic writing, interpretation and authorship. Commercial work can use a mutual NDA and agreed ownership of project-specific data. Controls, deliverables, timeline and costs are documented before execution; no publication, registration or commercial-performance guarantee is made.
